The best website design; Do I need a homepage?

In the old days, websites had to have a ‘home’ page as an access point for all the other pages within the website. There are still website designers and individuals now in the present day who believe that a ‘home’ page with a large amount of information on is necessary to support all the other pages but this is not the case anymore. Because of this modern realisation some people go to the opposite extreme and treat every page as a ‘home’ page with an access point. Although this style can increase ranking position it is often displeasing and can appear disorganised to the user.
